FULLERTON POLICE EXPLORERS

The Police Explorers are a division of the Boy Scouts of America.  Explorers Post 204 is a law enforcement Post sponsored by the Fullerton Police Department.  The Fullerton Police Explorer Post began in 1975, since then there have been many Explorers who have gone on to careers in law enforcement.  The Post introduces young people to police work and the various aspects of law enforcement, with an emphasis on community service.

Membership is open to young men and women who have an interest in the field of law enforcement.  Applicants must be between the ages of 14-18, having completed the eighth grade. The applicant must maintain a minimum of a 2.0 GPA or a “C” average in school and be of  good moral character with no serious arrest record. After acceptance, members may remain in the program until the age of 21.

While involved in Exploring activities, Police Explorers may assist the Police Officers by performing non-hazardous duties which could include:
Traffic Control
Crowd Control
Report Writing
Child Fingerprinting Program
Color Guard
Information Booth at Civic Events
Community Preservation Projects

By reaching children at an early age and providing positive activities and encouragement, our Club provides a compelling alternative to youth crime, gang membership, drugs, and other negative influences that effect our youth today.
Our Club programs promote the development of young people by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, influence and belonging. When this strategy is fully implemented, self-esteem is enhanced and an environment is created which helps our members achieve their full potential. Additionally, our members learn to:

Our Boys & Girls Club offers Five Core Areas of Programming which meet the diverse needs, interests and inclinations of all members. Our trained professional staff incorporates the following themes into daily activities, allowing youth to learn in a fun and educational environment.
Character & Leadership - Empowers youth to support and influence their Club and community, sustain meaningful relationships with others, develop a positive self image, and respect their own and other’s cultural identities.
Education & Career Development - Enables youth to develop aspirations for the future, apply learning to everyday situations and explore opportunities for career and educational enhancement.
Health & Life Skills - Develops young people’s capacity to achieve and maintain healthy lifestyles, set personal goals and develop the competencies to live successfully as self-sufficient adults.
The Arts - Helps young people develop self-expression and creativity, acquire multicultural appreciation, and enhance skills in crafts, performing and literary arts.
Sports, Fitness & Recreation - Encourages youth to develop: fitness, positive use of leisure time, skills for stress management, appreciation for the environment and social and interpersonal skills.
